On October 7, representatives from Tower joined students and faculty at the University of Chicago for a panel on quantitative investment and the evolving role of technology in finance, co-hosted by Bank of America and UChicago’s Master of Financial Mathematics program.
The event brought together industry leaders and academics for a wide-ranging discussion on quantitative trading, AI and machine learning, data-driven research, and the interplay between academic theory and real-world application.
Tower was represented by a quant trader and a UChicago alumnus. He attended along with other members of Tower who joined peers from across the industry to share perspectives on what makes a successful career in quantitative finance today.
The conversation struck a chord with attendees – over 140 students participated, engaging the panel with thoughtful questions that extended the discussion well past its scheduled time. From the future of data science in trading to how firms are integrating AI responsibly, students were eager to understand how their academic foundations can translate into meaningful industry impact.
After the session, attendees had the opportunity to connect informally with panelists and pick up Tower-branded swag, wrapping up an event that blended insight, inspiration, and community. We stressed how Tower’s culture encourages quantitative thinkers to explore ideas with academic rigor while collaborating closely across engineering and trading teams – a structure that appealed to many students in attendance.
The UChicago Master of Financial Mathematics program is among the world’s leading centers for quantitative finance, attracting students with strong knowledge of data science, applied mathematics, and computational methods. As Tower continues to deepen its partnerships with top universities worldwide, events like this reflect our ongoing commitment to fostering curiosity, innovation, and dialogue between the next generation of quantitative thinkers and the professionals shaping the field.
