Tower is proud to support the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay through its AI for Social Good Lab. Driven by a shared mission to bring high-quality computer science education to every learner across India, this partnership has helped develop AI-powered learning tools, strengthen research infrastructure and create new opportunities for students nationwide.
The initiative is the result of over two years of development through the “AI for Social Good Lab”, supported by Tower. Led by Principal Investigators Prof. Varsha Apte, Prof. Kameswari Chebrolu, and Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan, the lab aims to advance scalable learning systems that enable AI-assisted, personalized learning experiences at scale.
Nationwide Impact: The C++ Outreach Course
One example of the partnership’s impact is the C++ Outreach course, designed to make computer science education more accessible across India. Aimed at democratizing technical skills and making computer science education accessible anywhere, the program reached learners across the country. The course successfully enrolled 2,162 learners spanning all 28 Indian States and 8 Union Territories, bridging geographic and socioeconomic divides. Following a rigorous in-person selection process, 11 exceptional learners (6 female and 5 male) secured a 45-day internship at IIT Bombay bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world AI applications.
A standout feature of this learning journey was BodhiBot, a customized AI teaching assistant integrated directly into the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). BodhiBot was engineered to support learners by answering complex programming queries in real time, helping students continue learning without waiting for instructor support.
Overcoming Infrastructure Bottlenecks
Supporting a learning platform at this scale required significant computing infrastructure. Tower supported IIT Bombay with four high-performance NVIDIA H200 GPU servers, transforming the course infrastructure by significantly reducing cloud leasing bottlenecks, providing the dependable computational power necessary to make the BodhiTree framework a success.
Furthermore, Tower’s commitment to advancing foundational technology at IIT Bombay extends beyond the classroom. In recent months, we have provided similar GPU server support to empower the scientific research being led by Prof. Sunita Sarawagi, in the fields of AI and data science.
Tower and IIT Bombay are committed to driving tangible change in vital scientific research development.
Together, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to expanding educational opportunity while supporting research that advances the field of AI. Tower is proud to continue supporting initiatives that help students, researchers, and educators build the tools and knowledge that will share the future.
