Tower is proud to partner with The Akanksha Foundation, an India-based nonprofit that works to improve education access for children from low-income communities. Tower’s contributions are helping to modernize Akanksha’s services by powering its Digital Literacy Program and building a tech‑enabled learning environment. By supporting the program, Tower is equipping students and teachers with essential 21st-century skills and encouraging classroom innovation.
In collaboration with Akanksha’s Learning Team, Tower supports core academic initiatives — curriculum design, socio-emotional learning, sports, and arts — to help bring Akanksha’s student-centric vision to life. In addition, Tower sponsored a two-year STEM cohort of 12 high-potential alumni, offering personalized coaching, mentorship, and resources to help them pursue careers in engineering and medicine. This holistic approach bridges academic rigor and personal growth, empowering students to turn their aspirations into real-world success.
About The Akanksha Foundation
The Akanksha Foundation, established in 1991 by Shaheen Mistri, began as an after‑school initiative in Mumbai, aiming to provide quality education to underprivileged children. Starting with 15 students in a donated classroom, Akanksha has grown over 16 years to operate 60 after‑school centers, serving over 3,000 children.
In 2007, Akanksha launched the School Project, partnering with municipal corporations in Mumbai and Pune to run full‑time schools within the public system. By 2021, Akanksha operated 26 schools across Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur—impacting over 14,000 students and supporting more than 5,100 alumni.
Akanksha emphasizes holistic development by blending academic excellence with socio-emotional learning, ethical education, and strong community ties. Initiatives like Art for Akanksha nurture creativity, while the Alumni Support Program helps over 4,000 graduates navigate higher education and career opportunities.
In response to the COVID‑19 pandemic, Akanksha adopted blended learning and prioritized student well‑being, achieving a 95% return rate post‑lockdown. Looking ahead, Project Setuaims to bring Akanksha’s innovative practices to nearly 500 public schools — totaling around 80,000 students and 5,000 educators — to bridge educational gaps at scale.
