By: Neel Baronia | February 26, 2025

Tower Research Ventures recently hosted our inaugural Conference on Synthetic Software! We welcomed speakers from Tower Research Capital, Mako, CodeFlash, Coplay, Daytona, Mistral AI, and more who shared their expertise with close to 150 guests on emerging trends, best practices, and long-term visions for how AI will continue to transform software development.

Key Highlights:

  • Research Breakthroughs: Carlos E. Jimenez of Princeton NLP Group spoke about the design process of developing SWE-Bench and SWE-Agent, and what codegen model builders can expect in the near future. Mohamed Abdelfattah of Mako/Cornell Engineering spoke about his team’s work on building and benchmarking highly performant GPU kernels with code generation models.
  • Production Impact: Ramit Sawhney, Global Head of Core AI & ML at Tower Research Capital, spoke about how Tower is using codegen models for internal production, as well as our emphasis and focus on using AI for risk surveillance and monitoring. Ellipsis’s cofounder Hunter Brooks, spoke about using models to analyze code reviews and bug fixes in an ergonomic UI for developers. Saurabh Misra of CodeFlash spoke about using his firm’s code models to optimize production-grade Python code for speed and legibility. Jos van der Westhuizen of Coplay touched on using code models to describe and generate logic for video game levels.
  • Agentic Future: Baptiste Roziere of Mistral AI spoke about how his team is approaching building code models capable of complex tasks while Ivan Burazin of Daytona and Jesse Han of Morph Labs spoke about building tools specifically for use by code agents. Henry Zhu spoke about the future of open source projects predicting that agent contributors will eventually outnumber human maintainers.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone who joined us, and especially to our external speakers for taking the time to share their knowledge. Stay tuned for more updates and future events as we continue exploring ways to drive the future of AI and software development!
