At Tower Research Capital, we are proud to support British Asian Trust and their partner Samagra in their crucial work on the transformative NIPUN Bharat program, led by the Department of Basic Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The mission of this program is to ensure all students in grades 1 and 2 in government schools achieve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) competency by March 2027.
Under the Uttar Pradesh Government’s leadership, a remarkable milestone was achieved this year. Over 8,000 trainees from District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET), using the innovative NIPUN Lakshya App, evaluated FLN skills across government schools. The results are a testament to the state’s commitment: 43% of schools achieved NIPUN Vidyalay status (minimum 80% NIPUN students in the school) in the 2024-25 academic year, a significant rise from 16% in 2023-24 and just 4% in 2022-23.
The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2024 further validates Uttar Pradesh’s outstanding progress since 2018:
- Highest percentage point improvement in Grade 3 literacy and numeracy
- Highest percentage point improvement in Grade 5 numeracy
- Second-highest percentage point improvement in Grade 5 literacy
Together, this collaboration is delivering measurable improvements in learning and helping ensure every child in Uttar Pradesh is on track to become NIPUN.
